Privacy notice

How Scene Studio handles information when merchants and shoppers create product scenes.

Who provides Scene Studio

This notice covers the Scene Studio app and its storefront widget. The store where you shop has its own privacy notice covering purchases and other store activity.

Information we use

  • Store and account information: the Shopify store name, domain and identifier, app installation credentials, plan and subscription status, image limits and settings. Shopify session records can include staff account information supplied during authentication.
  • Scene requests: your description, styling choices, approximate dimensions, selected products, optional uploaded photo and the resulting preview. Photos are optional and require confirmation that you have permission to upload them and allow processing by the AI provider named beside the photo consent.
  • Service records: generation status, timestamps, usage totals, billing references, support tickets and replies, and security or administrative activity.

We use this information to generate scenes, provide account access and support, enforce limits, prevent abuse and report billable usage. The widget does not ask for a shopper’s name or email, or link a preview to a Shopify customer account. Avoid including personal documents, sensitive information or photos of people in scene requests.

Who processes or can see it

The active AI provider (OpenAI or Google Gemini, shown in the widget) receives the scene description, selected product details and images, and any uploaded photo needed for generation. Shopify provides store authentication, product data and app billing. Our hosting services store and process the app’s records and private files.

Authorized staff of the store can see its generation activity and available generated previews. The app operator can manage accounts, usage and support tickets. Original shopper photos are not offered as a merchant gallery.

OpenAI states that API data is not used to train models by default. Its abuse-monitoring records may retain content for up to 30 days, with longer retention in some legal or safety cases. Scene Studio’s short preview lifetime does not change OpenAI’s retention, and this app does not promise Zero Data Retention. See OpenAI’s data controls.

When Google Gemini is selected, Scene Studio requires the operator to use a Google Cloud project with billing enabled. Under Google’s paid API terms, submitted content and responses are not used to improve its products. Google may retain prompts, context and outputs for abuse monitoring for 55 days, with authorized review of flagged material. Scene Studio’s preview expiry does not delete provider records or guarantee Zero Data Retention. See Google’s API data terms and abuse-monitoring policy.

Preview access and retention

Access to a preview expires 15 minutes after its request. Original uploads are scheduled for deletion after processing. Expiry cleanup removes remaining image files and redacts the saved prompt and product-selection input. Cleanup runs in the background; a processing delay or service outage can delay physical deletion. Saving a preview to your device creates your own copy.

Job status and usage counts remain after image expiry. Store settings, billing references, support conversations and administrative records remain while the account is maintained; they have no automatic age-based deletion in the app.

Uninstalling removes app access, stored Shopify sessions and the store’s image files. Shopify’s later store-erasure request deletes the app’s store-linked database records. A minimal webhook delivery record may remain to prevent duplicate processing. Provider records and hosting logs or backups have separate retention and are not erased by preview expiry.

Sessions and security

Scene Studio uses Shopify authentication, temporary signed preview access and request identifiers, and rate-limit counters. The operator dashboard uses a necessary sign-in cookie. Image files are kept in private storage and retrieved through access checks. The app does not add advertising analytics or marketing cookies; Shopify and the store may use their own technologies.

Privacy questions and requests

Contact the publisher below about access, correction or deletion of your information. Merchants can also use the app’s support inbox. Shoppers should include the store address, approximate request time and any request reference, without sending the original photo again. Because previews are not linked to customer accounts, a customer email alone may not identify a scene request. We may need information to verify the request and locate a record.
